As a part of the inquiry process of PYP, you have been doing research on different ways. You have searched for information online and on printed resources. When we talked about printed resources, we consider books, magazines, journals, encyclopedias, yearbooks, dictionaries, newspapers, etc. And, when we talked about online information, we think about search engines like Google, Yahoo that give us access to unlimited websites, blogs, wikis, online newspapers, music, etc.
We are living in an age of information, many times we feel overwhelmed and flooded by information and opinions. Who to believe? What to believe? Am I agree? If I am not agree, can I explain my reasons and perspective?. Critical thinking is one of the skills that we want to support. We want you to learn how to find accurate information. It means information that is valid and from trustable sources. Also, the word 'Balance' is very important because:
- There should be a balance between printed resources (50%) and online resources (50%). A research cannot be done based only on one type of sources.
- There should be a balance between perspectives and points of view. You should try to find different perspectives for the same topics. So based on them, you can share your ideas and make your own opinions.
Always remember that research will be present always in our academic and personal life!
